Dr. Scott Benjamin, DDS

Dr. Scott Benjamin is an internationally recognized expert and educator on dental lasers, oral cancer, and advanced dental technologies. Scott is a general dental practitioner in private practice in rural upstate New York where he utilizes several different types and wavelengths of lasers on an everyday basis. He is member of the Laser Institute of America (LIA) Board of Trustees and is active voting member of ANSI Committee Z136 on Laser Safety that creates the national laser safety standards for the US. Dr. Benjamin has faculty appointment at several universities and is intimately involved with developing the program for laser education for the dental and hygiene schools’ core educational curriculum in both the didactic and clinical environment. Scott is a Past-Chair of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Lasers in Dentistry- Special Interest Group (LiD-SIG). He is Chair of the ADA Standards Committee Working Group on Dental Lasers, and is a Past-President of the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD). Dr. Benjamin has published over 300 articles, textbook chapters, and technical reports on dental lasers, diagnosis, and advanced dental technologies and is the Technology Editor of the Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry and is a member of the editorial board of several other prestigious peer reviewed dental journals.
